Kathleen Magee, soprano, has consistently caught the attention of critics with her "sparkling characterizations and her sweet singing" since her 1996 professional debut as Adele with Indianapolis Opera in Die Fledermaus.


In the fall of 2004 Kathleen Magee made her debut with New York City Opera in the role of Yvette in Puccini's La Rondine and sang her first Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro. Recent debuts included Adina in Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore with Liederkranz Opera Theater in March 2004 followed by Zerlina in Mozart's Don Giovanni with the Westfield Symphony in May. Upcoming performances include Adina with Bob Jones University Opera in March 2005 and Amy in Mark Adamo's Little Women with performances in Toyko and Nagoya, Japan, in May 2005.

In 2001 Kathleen Magee made her debut with Mobile Opera in the role of Gilda in Verdi's Rigoletto. In March of 2003 she returned to sing her first Carmina Burana as soprano soloist in the Opera's acclaimed joint production with Mobile Ballet. She made her debut with Glimmerglass Opera in 2000 as a Young American Artist in the role of Helen in John Philip Sousa's The Glass Blowers as well as a solo recital. In the summer of 2002, Ms. Magee returned to the Glimmerglass Opera covering both Nedda in I Pagliacci and Angelica in Orlando Paladino.


Ms. Magee made her Young Artist Studio debut with Florida Grand Opera as Gilda under the baton of Richard Bonynge during the 1999-2000 season and sang the role's of Frasquita in Bizet's Carmen, Letitia in Menotti's The Old Maid and the Thief, and Clorinda in Rossini's La Cenerentola. Other performances include Emma in Thomas Arne's Alfred with Albany Pro Musica, Susanna in Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro with Ash Lawn-Highland Festival, Queen of the Night in Mozart's The Magic Flute with Rogue Opera, Mabel in Lamplighters Musical Theatre production of The Pirates of Penzance, Marzelline in Beethoven's Fidelio with Pacific Repertory Opera, Pappagena in Die Zauberflöte with Opera San Jose, and Lauretta in Chautauqua Opera's Gianni Schicchi, Giannetta in Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore and Gretel in Humperdink's Hansel and Gretel with Virginia Opera. Ms. Magee also appeared with Livermore Valley Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Chicago Opera Theater and Music of the Baroque as well as performing in Young Artist programs with Indianapolis Opera, Virginia Opera and Chautauqua Opera. Solo concert roles have included Bach's Cantata No.199, Handel's Messiah, Mozart's Coronation Mass, Poulenc's Gloria, Rutter's Magnificat and Beethoven's Mass in C Major.


Kathleen Magee has received many awards and was a Regional Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Graphic Design with a Minor in Music from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and her Master of Music degree in voice from Northwestern University. Ms. Magee is originally from Livermore, California, and presently lives in New York City.
